Be Involved: Volunteer
You are a vital part of the Toro team and a key factor to our success. Whether you want to organize and lead one of our committees or are only able to assist here and there, we need you! Below are just a few ways you can seize the opportunity to get involved and support the Toro Nation.
Arizona Tax Credit
One of the biggest ways you can help contribute to the football program is through the Mesa Public Schools ECA State Tax Credit program. Arizona law provides a tax credit for contributions to public schools to support extracurricular activities or character education. The state tax credit is available to all qualifying individual Arizona state taxpayers. You do not need to have a child enrolled in a school to take advantage of this state tax credit.
A tax credit is different from a deduction, because you may subtract the whole contribution from your Arizona state tax bill. An individual may contribute as much as $200, and a couple filing jointly may contribute as much as $400 to a public school and receive the money back in the form of a tax credit. It is always best to consult a tax adviser to see if you qualify for the dollar-for-dollar credit.
For more information, please visit the Mesa Public Schools ECA donation page. If you would like to make a donation, please feel free to download the Mesa Public Schools Extracurricular Activity Contribution form or donate online. Make sure to indicate Mountain View as the school and football as the activity.
We ask that all Mountain View Toro football players participate in fundraising twice a year. The money earned from these fundraisers goes directly back to the football program to help raise money for new equipment, uniforms, and weight room updates. We fundraise in the spring and in the fall. Our fundraisers include:
- Toro Cards – For $20 you get a Toro card that provides hundreds of dollars of discounts to local merchants.
Our Toros work hard on the field! To help the team refuel during halftime, we ask for parent volunteers to assist in providing drinks and snacks for them. This might include ice-cold Gatorade, water bottles, and some fruit for a pick-me-up. We want to make sure our Toros are fully charged and Toro Tough when they return to the field! We will organize this effort through online sign-ups. This is a great way to support our Toros if you have limited time.
